DETS Streams UMCP-UMB Merger Open Forum
On Wednesday October 5, 2011 DETS provided live streaming of the University’s Open Forum on the proposed merger of UMCP and UMB. During the broadcast, over 95 people viewed the event. Sixty five of these watched live. DETS has provided live streaming of over 25 university events, reaching over 28,119 viewers. In addition to streaming the forum, DETS also provided a live video feed via fiber to Verizon’s AVOC switch in Washington D.C. This service allowed interested news agencies and television stations to cover the event. The forum, which was held in the Adele H. Stamp Student Union, provided information on the study and allowed attendees to voice their questions and concerns. Issues which were discussed included the pros and cons of the merger, impact on local communities and our state, and a description of several task groups assigned to study the issue was given. An additional Open Forum, hosted by the UMS Board of Regents, will be held on October 28th 2011 from 1-3 p.m. in the Prince George’s Room of the Adele H. Stamp Student Union. This event will also be streamed live. A link will be available on the UMD home page.
