Technology Requirements
DETS recommends your computer meet or exceed the minimum specifications list below in order to view lecture videos. A computer with greater capability (processor speed, RAM, disk capacity) and expandability will be more likely to run the software you require for Engineering classes.
Windows (PC) users must have a minimum of:
- An Intel-compatible 800 MHz processor (minimum)
1.2 - 3 GHz processor (recommended) - 256MB RAM (minimum)
1 - 2 GB RAM (recommended) - 8GB hard drive with 1 GB free space available (minimum)
120GB hard drive (recommended) - 256 color, 800x600 display and a video card (minimum)
32 bit high color, 1024x768 (recommended) - CD-ROM drive
- Sound card and speakers
- Windows Media Player
- Windows 2000 or XP
- Access to the web is required. Lectures are currently viewable in Windows Media and in rich media formats. A high speed Internet connection such as cable, DSL, T1, or corporate LAN is required to stream lecture videos. Windows Media files can also be downloaded to your hard drive or portable media for later viewing.
Browser Requirements:
All Mediasite Presentations require Windows Media Player.
The RichMedia site requires JavaScript 1.2 or higher. To view the site:
Enable JavaScript in your browser.
- Internet Explorer:
Menu: Tools » Internet Options...
Click on the Security tab
Click the Custom Level.. button near the bottom
Scroll down the list to Scripting, Active scripting
Click Enable
Click OK Twice - Firefox:
Menu: Tools » Options...
Click on the Content icon/tab
Check the box for Enable JavaScript
Click OK - Other:
Consult your browser's Help section for information on how to change this setting.
